Image Spriting

This project has been worked upon by Kai Vogel (Abschlussarbeit Fachinformatik).

About this software

When you access a web page, usually all contained files will be downloaded separately to your local browser. That means, each file like images, style sheets or javascript files are requested individually and sequentially, therefore causing network traffic and time delays.

One possible method of reducing the requests and latency is to combine all static images of a web page into a single file. Thus the number of requests will be reduced to one of the resulting image map. This technique is called image spriting.

This application allows you to combine all your images into one file. Additionally, it creates a CSS configuration to link all static image files to the correct position on the resulting image map.
